La Casa "Calpini", S.A. Mexico City

In 1848 was born in Mexico, DF House Calpini, establishment engaged in the trade of optical instruments, engineering, drawing, scientific and items of the field, being the first establishment that is dedicated to market optical goods, fit and specialized.From Italian origin, the founder of Casa Calpini, Javier Calpini, used his experience and knowledge of the product to introduce it into Mexico, importing it from Europe using finished glasses and to determine the graduation the person was needed, I use the system of trial and error, since the scientific instruments of Measurement and diagnosis subsequently appeared. Lutz, Ferrando Calidad total en Óptica was founded in 1878 by Leopoldo Schnbabl. The optician specialized in ophthalmic optics first at 101 Florida Street and then, in 1900, it moved to 171 Florida Street under the name Lutz and Schulz. In 1912 the premises on Florida Street 240 were inaugurated with a new name Lutz Ferrando SA Notice the Slide rules lined up vertically in the right most wall display case on the first shelf. . Those were the beginnings of the name Lutz Ferrando as an optician specialized in ophthalmology that today has new specialties related to vision such as contactology, low vision, meteorology and audiology accessories. At one point they sold cameras and slide rules (reglas de calculo) as part of their accessory line. They offerred K&E, Diwa, Nestler, and rebranded Hemmi's as well, as in the specimens and 1920 catalog below.
